Ian is a commercial litigator with over 25 years’ post qualification experience split between the Cayman Islands and London where he is presently based. Ian has acted in a variety of matters but with particular emphasis on financial services, company and insolvency law.
Recent cases include a leading Court of Appeal case on contractual interpretation of guarantees (Rabsco Inc v Prasad 7 August 2023 Appeal No 00024 of 2022), a successful application for leave to appeal fines issued by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (In Re Sterling Asset Management v Cayman Islands Monetary Authority 11 November 2022 (IKJ) and a leading case concerning the enforceability of arbitration clauses (McAlpine v Butterfield Bank (21 November 2019 CICA No 30 of 2019).
Ian is Cayman Islands editor of the Journal of International Banking Law and joint editor of the Cayman Islands chapter of Global Legal Insights: Litigation and Dispute Resolution
