Catharina is a banking and finance expert and a member of our Fund Finance Team practicing as a Luxembourg Avocat à la Cour and as a Cayman Islands attorney.
Catharina started her legal career in the corporate finance and investment funds team at Norton Rose Fulbright in London, Hong Kong and Bahrain, specializing in various open and closed-ended fund formations, including Shariah compliant structures, private equity transactions, public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and regulatory work. Thereafter, Catharina worked as a dual qualified Cayman Islands and Luxembourg banking and finance attorney.
Catharina has extensive experience in all aspects of financing transactions, with a particular focus on subscription and capital call financings, NAV facilities and hybrid facilities. Catharina represents leading financial institutions and private equity funds on multi-jurisdictional lending transactions, deal structures and on all types of secured transactions providing both combined and standalone Luxembourg law and Cayman Islands law advice from a US time zone.
Catharina is recommended by Chambers Global 2021, Chambers Global 2022 and Chambers Global 2023 as a leading banking & finance attorney. She is also recognized by IFLR 1000 as a rising star and received a rising star award by the Fund Finance Association in 2020.
Catharina is fluent in English, French, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, and Spanish. She actively participates in professional associations, including 100 Women in Finance, the Fund Finance Association, Women in Fund Finance, the Barreau de Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association.
