Louise Freestone
Partner, Investment Funds and Corporate, Cayman Islands
Louise is an investment funds and corporate lawyer with over 30 years of legal experience, as a partner in the corporate and investment funds groups of Herbert Smith London, as general counsel to a private investment management firm and since 2015 as a partner at Travers Thorp Alberga.
Louise acts for a broad range of managers, sponsors, funds, private banks and investors in the private equity and hedge funds sectors, assisting in the structuring, establishment, restructuring and closure of funds. Louise typically advises on manager, sponsor and service provider agreements and investor relationships, as well as the full remit of fund related regulatory and commercial matters for large financial institutions, private banks, mid-sized and start up managers.
Her most recent experience includes strategies focused on venture capital, private equity, GP staking, real estate, life science and technology (including data centres and space) funds and other alternative strategies, as well as equities, fixed income and debt opportunities.
Louise also acts for various family offices in respect of their investment, structuring and regulatory advisory matters advising on downstream private equity investment transactions, series preference share financings and on a wide range of general corporate transactional and non-transactional matters, including complex restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, joint ventures, tender offers and proxy battles for corporate clients, large multinational corporate groups and private investors.
